How to Clone Plants

Cloning plants are the easiest way to reproduce them without using seeds.

The process involves reproducing a new plant from cuttings that will grow and develop their own root system. Popular plants that can be cloned include runners and tubers like potatoes.

Any branch, root, stem, flower or leaf has a genetic blueprint of the parent plant. These can then be reproduced in another location and can grow and develop in the right conditions.

Materials Needed:

Containers

Choose a container that has enough room to hold the size of the plant once it matures. You also need to decide how many cuttings you will place in the same container.

Plant pots or translucent cups or containers with appropriate holes at the bottom can work. This will enable you to see the roots as they begin to come up.

Choosing Soil

Soil or rock wool is necessary for cuttings to take toot. Compost, starting- mix, or potting soil can be used to help cultivate the clone.

Ordinary garden soil is not recommended for cloning.

Rockwool takes a bit more effort and preparation. First, you’ll need to dampen the soil with water and let it absorb overnight.

Should I go Organic or use Root Hormones?

You can decide whether you wish to clone organically or use root hormones to help stimulate root growth.

Hormones

Plants have their natural hormones that help them develop a certain amount of leaves and roots.

Root hormones contain synthetic stimulators that mimic the natural pant substances.

There are some plants, like tomatoes, which produce large amounts of natural plant hormones and are easier to clone.

While some plants may need a little help, the down-side is that some hormones may do more harm than good if used indiscriminately.

Organic

Natural soil additives can include diluted apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and willow tea.

Planting Stems

Prepare the soil

Before you plant the stems, you need to prepare the soil. If you use rock wool, insert the block into the container. Gradually cut a hole in the middle of the block to accommodate the correct size of the plant.

For soil mix, fill the container up to the top, then bore a hole right through the middle and continue to the bottom. Wet the soil, but be careful not to saturate it.

Cut the Stem

Cut the stems diagonally with a sharp scissors or knife. It’s best to use a stem that grows on the side of the plant (lateral) rather than from close the ground (terminal).

After clipping the stem, clear the base of any flowers or leaves. Flowers or leaves left on the stem will sap the water supply from reaching the roots.

Apply root hormone in powder or liquid form where appropriate. For the powder, dip the stem in a little water and lightly apply the powder so that it adheres to the bottom of the stem.

Never coat the entire stem in the powder or dip it in the liquid. Next, place at least 1/3 of the stem into the hole in the rock wool.

Cover:

Cover the container with glass or plastic to help retain the moisture, and allow the plant to thrive while the roots develop.

Keep the container in a warm place with a little sunlight. Too much direct sunlight may destroy the cutting.

Sprinkle the plant every day with a little water to keep it moisturized. You should begin to see results in about two weeks.

Greenworks 25322 G-MAX 40V with Battery and Charger

Price Range: $$$

>View The Current Price of the Greenworks 25322 On Amazon Here<

Quick Overview:

  • 16 inch deck
  • 40-volt, 4AH Li-Ion Battery
  • 5 position easy cutting height adjustment
  • Rear bagging or mulching option
  • Weighs 37.5 pounds

What Customers Say:

This mower rates an overall four out of five stars. Ratings are calculated based on the entire 40 volt line, with the primary difference being the deck size. Nearly 250 of the almost 300 reviews were four or five star ratings.

Pros: This mower is light and maneuverable. The battery charges quickly and has a decent life. The mower is very quiet and the battery pack can be used on compatible Greenworks tools.

Cons: The mulching feature is not always effective and can leave behind clumps of grass at times. This mower is meant for smaller yards due to size and only includes one battery instead of two.

The Greenworks 25322 is the 16 inch entry into Greenworks’ 40 volt Li-ion series. These mowers share similar designs, so many of the reviews are interchangeable. Keep in mind this mower is intended for smaller yards, as evidenced by the smaller cutting area and inclusion of one battery – not two like some of the other Greenworks models.

Understanding those limitations, the reviews on the 16 inch model have been very good overall. Some of the other models in this series have a slight flaw that causes difficulty in starting, but the fix is extremely easy. This was not as prevalent in the 16 inch model, but be aware that it is a possibility.

Also, users of several of the Greenworks models report some issues with mulching at times, but we believe this has more to do with the mowing conditions. If you are mowing very tall or wet grass, any of the electric lawn mowers will have trouble with these kinds of conditions. Overall, this mower is recommended for small yards and light to medium duty grass.

Hubble space telescope

Here follows is a great post on the hubble space telescope from Jennifer Bailey. Jennifer goes on to speak about the invention of the hubble telescope. Jennifer goes on to talk about the future of the hubble space telescope, and what is next to NASA’s space telescope plans.

The telescope is one primary tool for viewing distant objects. As man’s curiosity and perseverance to discover what was happening far outside of the earth increased, the Hubble space telescope was developed.

The Hubble space telescope orbits the Earth.  Its position outside of the Earth’s environment enables the device to capture vivid ocular images of the minutest objects.

This type of telescope provides great benefit to the field of astronomy. Since its creation in 1990, it has marked a major significance in the field of science and has ranked as one of the most vital telescopes in the record of astronomy.

The Hubble space telescope has provided numerous innovative observations and explanations that have helped astronomers understand astrophysics.  However, it has had its problems.  Originally, the idea for the telescope was developed in 1946, but the project was delayed because of resources and budget constraints.

Finally, in 1990, the space telescope was launched. Another problem when the main mirror suffered from spherical aberration. It delimited the space telescope’s deliverance of its finest performance.

It was in 1993, that the Hubble was revived and reshaped in accordance to what had been in the original plan. From then on, the space telescope had greatly helped scientists as a fundamental research apparatus for astronomical study.

Up to this day, no one is certain whether or not the  Hubble space telescope will continue to function properly. NASA officials are considering the launching of a repair mission but are unsure of its success.  For one, a robotics mission is not a guarantee , and a repair mission by the astronauts will surely be perilous.

After 2010, it is thought that the Hubble telescope will reenter the Earth’s atmosphere. By 2013, a descendant space telescope known as the James Webb will be launched, but it is only limited to observing via infrared – limited compared to the capabilities of the Hubble space telescope.

Despite several other groundbreaking instruments with higher resolutions, nothing has beaten the sensitivity of the Hubble space telescope with regards its discernible wavelengths. Simple Habits for Effective Language Learning

Learning a foreign language is a process that involves several tasks. Language can be broken down into a number of different elements. The traditional dichotomy includes grammar and vocabulary. To learn any of them, you need time and hard work. To become good at grammar, you first need to study it and then use it.

The same thing goes for vocabulary. You need to learn new words through reading and other kinds of activities. To keep these newly acquired words in your active repertoire, you must put them into use.

The tips presented below are expected to help you both grammar and vocabulary a lot more easily. In order the get the promised benefits, you should make sure you actually apply these techniques and not just read them

Set yourself a goal

Goals are the driving force behind many great achievements. If you want to keep the momentum in your language learning, you need to have specific goals set for each stage of your study plan. These goals will work as sign posts that show you if you are on the right track or not. They will also give you a clear idea on how much you have accomplished and how much is left. When you achieve a goal, you should celebrate and reward yourself.

Don’t skip what’s hard

Some parts of the language tend to be harder than others. Many times you will stumble upon some lessons in the grammar book that feel relatively hard. Resist the temptation of skipping them because in most cases there will be other lessons that are based on these concepts. Besides, skipping the hard concepts will not make them disappear; they will always be looming there to hinder your learning.

Learn at your own pace

People learn at different paces. Don’t try to force yourself to learn at a pace that is far beyond what you are comfortable with. Just because someone claims to have learned the language in a matter of a few weeks, you don’t have to do the same. Make your study plan in accordance with the amount of time you have available for investing in learning the language. It is not about how fast you can learn it but if you can consistently put in the effort even when you don’t feel like it.

Become action-oriented and stop procrastinating

Successful people are described as being action-oriented. They don’t wait for the picture to become completely clear to take action. Don’t waste too much time over-planning and engaging in things that will get you nowhere. Try to get down to the nitty-gritty of language learning as soon as possible. Any time you spend on unimportant stuff will delay you from reaching your goal.

Read out loud

Many learners say that it can be very hard to practice a foreign language when you have no one around to speak to in that language. There are creative ways that can be used to overcome this problem. You can for example talk to yourself in the language. There are also many ways to study languages online. Reading texts aloud can also provide you with some extra practice in speaking the new language.

Writing is another great way to practice languages. The more you write the better you become at speaking and communicating in the new language. If you don’t have a keyboard that supports the foreign language you are learning, you can go here to use a virtual keyboard. A full list of keyboard can be found on this site:

I will keep stressing the fact that the only way to learn any language or master any skill is through practice. Practice consistently and you will be able to learn any language you want.
